I had a GBM tumor. I received surgery at Loma Linda on Aug. 2, 2007. Not all of the tumor was removed. I have not received treatment as of yet. Does this seem too long or is it the normal time line?

My husband was diagnosed 9 months ago with AA(characteristically behaving as stage 4...but limited tumor sampling). With 7 weeks chemo and radiation at MD Anderson his tumor shrank in half. He has been/is on 5day Temodar maintenance schedule for 6 months with plans to continue as long as possible. Dr's continue to tell us the tumor will return. We want to plan ahead finding information about clinical trails. What are the most promising clinical trials in your opinion. I appreciate your expertise in this area. Regards,J More..

My husband was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma Stage 3(characteristically behaving as stage 4...they had a limited biopsy sampling) on Aug 28, 2006. He is currently undergoing standard radiation and Temodar treatment(3 weeks into 6 week treatment). We find conflicting info about nutritional suppliments that may serve to protect his healthy cells but have stopped suppliments during this time. What is your opinion on use of vitamins during treatment...and do you have reliable resources/studies that we can refer to?

Hello Dr. Zeltzer. I have been trying to locate a copy of your book for immediate delivery. My mother has been diagnosed with a GBM on the right side, imbedded in her brain about the size of a baseball. I am being told that they cannot use cheomo or radiation. If she goes for surgery, she will be paralyzed on her right side and may lose her ability to speak. My mom is 80 years with no history of cancer. My 10 yr.-old nephew was diagnosed with an Ependymoma when he was 6, and was given surgery and radiation. It recurred in Jan. of 2005, was again surgically removed, and radioactive seeds implanted. In Nov. of 2005, he was discovered to have cancer in his lung pleura and in lymph nodes on his neck. It is supposed to be very rare to have the ependymoma spread, but in his case, it appears to have happened. He received 12 wks. of chemotherapy at Children's Hospital in Seattle, and is now getting radiation to his chest and neck. I have been searching for new treatment options, and was very interested to recently learn about P1-101 being studied at UCSF. However, I find it very difficult to obtain information about brain tumors that have metastisized to other areas, and I've been told that some of the clinical trials for new treatments would not be open for him. I know he is in a very bad situation; but might any drugs like P1-101 be suitable for him? Thank you very much for any information you can share with me.
